The Smoking Panda
The Smoking Panda presents a hybrid of cultures, combining the best of LA’s dynamic bar scene with the charm of a retro Chinese eatery, and planting it in the heart of Sydney’s bustling CBD. The space echoes the blend of LA cool and old school China, taking elements of each and translating them into an ultra hip interior.
The menu, created by Danny Russo and former Aria chef Roy Ner, includes prawn toast and duck spring rolls. The fried ice-cream won't have a 1970s flavour to it, with the dish updated with green tea ice-cream.
The brief for the food menu draws inspiration from suburban Chinese restaurants, featuring modern takes on favourite dishes and finger foods. Signature items include the sweet and sour Pork Ribs, steamed XO soft shell crab slider with Asian slaw and the ‘Chairman’s Wings’ served with Chinese BBQ sauce, as well as a selection of dumplings.
